With just two weeks to go until this year’s Show it’s time to introduce our President Mrs Georgina Paske.
‘I grew up in Earl Soham and remember being taken to the Woodbridge Horse Show by my mother Ann Sylvester probably from the age of 8. My then pony was called Penny who we then sold to the Edmundsons for Patrick. My sister Kate and I went every year to compete in the Working Hunter Ponies which were then qualifiers for the Peterborough Championships at the end of the showing season. We have many wonderful memories of Kate and her pony called Miss Muphet, they won many classes and championships and I am sure Woodbridge was one of them. I had a pony then called Cocktail Moet and didn’t do quite so well.
Woodbridge was always such a great show to go to as we all loved seeing the Suffolk Punches and it was one of the first of the season, a very important part of our calender.
Later in my life my daughter Leilia competed at Woodbridge on her ponies, starting at the age of 5 in lead rein pony classes and then progressing on to the workers and Mountain and Moorland classes. More recently Leilia would take her eventers there to do the dressage test or/and the Show Jumping classes. It has always been a great show to start the season with as their are many classes and a wonderful friendly atmosphere.’
